Why have a Tax Agent prepare your Tax Return?
Less than 30% of people actually prepare their own tax return, largely because it’s just easier to outsource it. Tax law is constantly changing, so if you’re not completely up to speed then you could end up losing more money that you’d save by doing it yourself.
We’ve seen some big mistakes from people who have tried to fumble their way through a tax return. For the mistakes we detected early enough, we have been able to save our clients thousands of dollars.
When do I have to do my Tax Return?
If you lodge your own tax return it is due on the 31st of October each year, but if you lodge through a tax agent you have until May of the following year. However, if you have late tax returns then you won’t get that extension.
The Australian Taxation Office have been cracking down on late lodgers recently, and we’ve seen some big fines issued.
How much does a Tax Return cost?
For individual tax returns who are primarily earning wages, your tax return will cost $132. If you have an investment property, the cost will be an additional $88. Small business tax returns start from $220 but you must provide us with a profit and loss statement.
If you are a non-resident taxpayer, your tax return will cost from $165 to prepare.
